Granny.....

Isn't she Wonderful!!!

My mother used to make dolls in her spare time about 10 years ago.

I would sell some of the dolls for her to stores

throughout Northern California.

Most of the dolls she would make were Victorian Santa Claus

dolls and very few Granny dolls.
About 5 years ago, I was given alot of
her dollmaking supplies. She stopped making them.
The Granny you see above....is just like one of
my mother's Granny dolls, except not as detailed.
I made this Granny about 4 years ago.
She has managed to travel with
me from place to place....even ending up here

in Sunny CA.

I think she is just Wonderful.....and a little SILLY too.....

Just look at those teeth. Gosh, I hope I don't rest mine on my lap when I'm her age.

ALL The accessories came from a big box my mother

gave me. Granny's dress came from the baby

section at the goodwill, along with her little

sweater. I took them in on the

sewing machine.

Do you see the lady BUG on her shoulder????

I worked hard painting Granny's face to come
as close as I could to the Grannies my mother
would make.

MMMMmmmmmm m .....

I was given such wonderful childhood memories....memories I wanted to pass on to my children. Christmas time at my house, when I was a child.....was filled with candy, decorating, cookies, lots of lights and beautifully wrapped presents. My sister and I would wake up to find...

Santa came and filled the living room full of presents. We each had t.v. trays with big fat stockings on them and a stuffed animal Shar-Pai doggie....you know the kind with the wrinkles all over. I still remember those dogs to this day. My dad would put Elvis Christmas music on which played throughout the house while my mom would pass out the presents. The fire would be on so we were all nice and warm opening a mound of presents. My favorite present one year...was my Roller Skates.... These weren't just any roller skates.... they were the top of the line, the cream of the crop....They put the Capital in Roller Skates. They were white and came with a few different skate covers.

Here it is...........30 years later............Holy COW!!!! does that mean.... 3 Decades later???? who would have thought I would remember all those wonderful things..... That's the KEY!!!

creating wonderful memories for your children. I thank my wonderful parents for giving me those wonderful times.....even at times when I gave them less than wonderful memories.

Now, it's my turn to give my children and grandchildren the wonderful memories that they will look back on and share with their children...... Thanks, mom and Dad....Love you Both!
